We continue our collection of scanned images with some of the rarer Dublo products. Catalogue numbering and prices are from the final 1964 catalogue. Don't be put off by the current prices, there are still plenty of reasonably priced models available to the new collector.
Dorchester loco
3235 This is the famous Dublo 3-rail Dorchester, a rebuilt Bulleid 4-6-2 Pacific. The 2-rail equivalent was Barnstaple and they were the most expensive locos in the range at £5-15/-. Current price for a mint, boxed Dorchester with instructions and guarantee is £350. The 2 Rail Barnstaple is worth around £120.

Track Cleaning Wagon4654 And this is the legendary Track Cleaning Wagon, the ugliest, the last and the most desirable wagon in the Dublo range. In the last catalogue it is priced at 'available later'. It is made from die cast metal like the earlier mineral wagon, from which it was adapted. You have to have one if you want a complete collection of Dublo wagons. The problem is you're looking at £450 upwards!

Rumour has it that there's a man in a house in a small English town sitting on a hundred of these wagons.

Plastic Girder Bridge5015 Originally 11/9d, the rare plastic girder bridge; name your price!

The original die cast metal bridge is very popular and worth around £40 (pounds sterling). The identical version in plastic came out just as the company went bust in 1964, consequently it is as rare as hens teeth and worth £300 or more.

Caustic Liquor Bogie WagonA fine shot of the 4685 Caustic Liquor Bogie Wagon at 11/6d. This model had two types of bogies during production, the diamond shape being the rarer.

United Dairies Milk Tank Wagon4657 United Dairies Milk Tank Wagon (6 wheeled) at 9/11d; now very popular with collectors and available in three variations on the tank supporting struts.

[2-6-2T animated loco, 198KB]As promised, here is the most amazing animated gif you've ever seen. There is a larger version which will take up to ten minutes to download - but it's worth it. Choose from the full version at 800KB or the wheels only version at 471KB. You will need to use the 'back' button on your browser to return to the gallery. Alternatively open the picture in a new window (right mouse button over the link) to continue browsing during download. This image has been scanned from an actual model of the Hornby-Dublo 2-6-4 Tank which was available in 3 rail from 1954 and 2 rail from 1959. The later 3 rail version carrying the number 80059 is extremely rare. Congratulations are due to 'Scanner' for this sensational first in the illustrious history of Hornby-Dublo.

There are some fine pictures at Gerardo Crotti's Dublo page along with more Dublo features.
